About Capitola Beach...
Capitola is an intimate beach village tucked in a river valley in Santa Cruz County on the Monterey Bay. Located an hour away from San Jose and an hour and a half from San Francisco, Capitola enjoys a lively population full of tradition and an interesting history.
The City’s wharf and riverside areas remind one of a village in France or perhaps a Mediterranean coast in Italy. Capitola Village is located along a wide beach with a breathtaking view of Monterey Bay and is home to numerous craft galleries, boutiques and restaurants. It is here where the Begonia Festival takes place each Labor Day weekend, featuring flower-draped floats and the must-see sand castle contest. Each fall the village also hosts the Annual Capitola Art & Wine Festival, which brings in over 170 artists, 10 wineries and numerous food vendors. Other visitor attractions include the Capitola Historical Museum, Capitola Wharf, and the Capitola Mall.
Capitola Beach is one of California's prettiest city beaches, always busy. It has beautiful views of the Monterey Bay and sailboats moored offshore, and a string of colorfully-painted cottages along the water add a festive touch.

How to Get to Capitola Beach:
Capitola Beach is along the waterfront in downtown Capitola. Exit CA 1 at Soquel Avenue or 41st and drive toward the ocean, following the signs toward downtown Capitola.
This is a very well kept beach. We stayed in Capitola for 3 days and the whole time there, we saw crews cleaning the beach every morning before the crowds arrive. The restrooms were very clean and well kept as well. There are a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance.
Small beach but clean and nice - lifeguard's during the summer. Some surfing by the local kids - you are right next to the village. They have a large restroom area (no waiting), and outdoor showers to get the sand off.
A nice beach town that looks like a riviera town in Italy and is worth going to anytime for shopping and the beach.
