Due to its inland location between Santa Cruz and Silicon Valley, Scotts Valley is primarily a destination for those travelling on business. However, Scotts Valley is also a very family-friendly destination – especially for those visitors with young children. Activities in Scotts Valley

Scotts Valley has great parks that will entertain the entire family.  Skypark has playgrounds for the little ones, a skate park and sports facilities for the older kids, a nice walking path for the older set and even a dog park for family pets.  Bring burgers to throw on one of the BBQ pits, and make a day of it.  On hot days, the pool at Siltanen Park is a good alternative.  And for the beginning fishermen and fisherwomen out there, Camp Evers Fishing Park has a pond full of trout.  Family-friendly events happen all summer long – most notably the Children’s Fishing Derby and the Fourth of July celebration in Skypark.  For those who want to venture out a little bit, Scotts Valley is only a few miles away from the famous Santa Cruz County redwood forests and beaches.

 

Dining in Scotts Valley

Dining in Scotts Valley is characterized by reasonably priced family-friendly fare and Mexican food.  It is also home to quite a few breakfast-only restaurants.  While Auntie Mame’s is the local breakfast hangout, Heavenly Café is also a solid breakfast option.  For Mexican cuisine in Scotts Valley, options include Café Carlos, Maya Restaurant and Los Gallos Taqueria.  The best restaurants to take small children include Auntie Mame’s and Scotts Valley Grill.

 

Shopping in Scotts Valley

Although there is not go-to place for shopping in Scotts Valley, the city does have quite a few shopping centers.  These include Camp Evers Shopping Center, Graham Plaza Shopping Center, Kings Village Shopping Center, Santas Village Shopping Center, Scotts Valley Square Shopping Center and Scotts Village Shopping Center.  The city is also home to the Scotts Valley Farmers Market on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
