About Los Gatos
Los Gatos is a lively town located in Santa Clara County just 60 miles south of San Francisco. It was once a railroad town that made its money through farming milling and logging. Now it is the home of Silicon Valley workers seeking a small town sanctuary from the Bay Area hustle and bustle. First settled in 1840, Los Gatos is one of California’s oldest communities and has a rich history that can be best explored in its local museum and strolling along the picturesque streets of its historic downtown area. But history buffs won’t be the only ones to enjoy Los Gatos’ downtown. With over 100 shops and restaurants, the area is a wonderful place for shoppers and foodies to spend the day. Fun for the whole family is to be had in the well-maintained city parks of Los Gatos, perfect for picnicking and enjoying nature. The town’s many events also make for perfect family entertainment all year round.
With close to a dozen vineyards and wineries in the area, Los Gatos is also a wine lover’s dream. Take a wine tour or just stop by one of the downtown winery tasting rooms. These award-wining vintages will please even the most discerning wine connoisseur.
