About Boulder Creek
Boulder Creek is a quaint historic town situated amongst the San Lorenzo Valley redwoods that proudly has no fast food restaurants or chain stores. While today’s Boulder Creek is a quiet little town, it was once a rough and tumble Wild West city that provided lumber for the nearby mining towns. The old saloons and brothels are now cute little locally-owned shops and restaurants, but a lot of Boulder Creek’s charm comes from its still-strong connection with its rich history. The town has a variety of historical events all year round, while visitors can enjoy the interactive exhibits of the San Lorenzo Valley Museum any day of the week. Boulder Creek is also the jumping off point for exploring Big Basin Redwoods State Park, which provides visitors with 80 miles of trails and a variety of campsites for all types of outdoorsmen and women. Although much of the redwood forest was mined for lumber in the late 1800s, there are still some old growth trees to admire and thousands of redwoods that are about 100 years old. Whether hiking, biking or horseback riding, Big Basin is a great place to explore the beauty and tranquility of Nature’s forest giants.
